MICHAEL LIM TAN, DVM, PhD
College President
Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of the Philippines, Diliman (UPD), an elected academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology, and currently the President of Guang Ming College. After serving as Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy at UPD, he was appointed Chancellor of UPD from 2014 to 2020. As a Medical Anthropologist, his published single-author books include Thinking, Doing Culture (2011) by UST Press; Revisiting Usog, Pasma, Kulam (2008) by UP Press, and Good Medicine: Pharmaceuticals and the Construction of Power and Knowledge in the Philippines (1999) by University of Amsterdam. His Pinoy Kasi column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer started in 1997 and continues today.

Sports Development Program
The GMC Sports Development Program is one of the disciplines which is under the direction of the school president. It is the program responsible for the overall sports development of the school. As such, it provides leadership among the heads, coordinators, coaches, officials and student-athletes during sports activities and in participation in local, regional, national and international meets and sports competitions. It also aims to establish linkages with different associations to improve the sport development programs of the college.
Artists' Residency Program
In 2021, Dr. Michael Tan, GMC President, invited National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes to initiate the Artist Residency Program (ARP) to provide opportunities to the performing arts students to train and perform with professional artists and teachers of the Alice Reyes Dance Philippines (ARDP). The ARP is a team of artists-in-residence who create creative productions and cumulative programs for/with the GMC Performing Arts students, in collaboration with the GMC Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Academic Affairs.
Venerable Master Hsing Yun Center for Buddhism and the Arts (Cebu)
Is a non-sectarian channel for promoting and advocating Humanistic Buddhism of the Guang Ming College, the VMHY CBA is an embodiment of the principles, teachings and values of Humanistic Buddhism as advocated by Venerable master Hsing Yun, revered founder of GMC and Fo Guang Shan (FGS). It is a collaborative endeavor of GMC and Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Foundation.
