Manila, Philippines — On April 26, 2026, the Guang Ming College (GMC) Performing Arts Laboratories (PALs), in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), participated in the celebration of Buddha’s Birthday at Lucky Chinatown Mall, Manila. This meaningful engagement was made possible through the invitation and coordination of the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Quezon Chapter.
Buddha’s Birthday is an annual observance commemorating the birth and enlightenment of the Buddha. The celebration featured activities such as the bathing of the Baby Buddha, lantern and light offerings, and interactive spaces that encouraged public reflection and participation. At the center of the program were performances that expressed Buddhist values and cultural traditions through music, dance, and theater.
For the event, GMC brought together several of its performing groups, including the Cuerdas string musicians, the Guang Ming Chorus, the Guang Ming Dance Project, Ritmo, and the Dharma Theatre Ensemble. The students performed before audiences from different communities across Manila, representing their respective programs and also the College’s continuing engagement in arts, culture, and values formation.
The College extends its appreciation to the BLIA Quezon Chapter and the Venerables of Fo Guang Shan Mabuhay Temple for the opportunity to take part in the celebration. Engagements such as this continue to strengthen the College’s connection with its partner communities and institutions.
